We the People

We the People

Written by: Kate McRae

I know sometimes we struggle and the road gets pretty rough

But this nation under God gives us the courage to be tough

Our fathers got through harder times with even less to lose

And they fought for freedom in old red white and blue

And now we keep their faith alive and we stand proud and strong

Because we know that this is where we belong

We the people, the ones who stood our ground

The ones who fought that fight, the ones who settled down

We the people, who paved these streets of gold

We are America, Welcome home.

This country has a history made by so many hands

Stretching our own borders and reaching out to foreign lands

To the ones who died, those who lived, and those who held their ground

What would this country be if they hadn’t been around?

There’s bound to be more times when we can’t see each other’s point of view

But as our country changes, one thing will hold true

We the people, the ones who stood our ground

The ones who fought that fight, the ones who settled down

We the people, who paved these streets of gold

We are America, Welcome home.

You see it’s not the land that makes the nation

It’s the people that are there to build it up from its foundation

We the people, the ones who stood our ground

The ones who fought that fight, the ones who settled down

We the people, who paved these streets of gold

We are America, Welcome home.
