Beautiful

Beautiful

Dress up 6 years old

Lipstick and mama’s clothes

She stumbled to the mirror in high heel far to big

And when she saw her reflection she lit up with a grin

She just wanted to feel beautiful

And like a little girl

She wants to look just like her mama

And be her daddy’s world

Only happiness when she looked up and smiled

At that lovely mirror mirror on the wall

Who showed her someone beautiful

High school seventeen

Everyone wants to be seen

And soon she’ll leave for college

To escape and clear her mind

Years of hateful words have haunted her

And she wants to leave them all behind

She just wanted to feel beautiful

To have a moment free of pain

No more doubt, no more worry

No more anger, no more shame

To feel happiness for the first time in awhile

And for that lovely mirror mirror on the wall

To show her someone beautiful

And ten years down the road

Still struggling so hard to let go

She was cut down, on the floor,

But she didn’t have to fight that anymore

And all she wants is to feel beautiful

To have a moment in the sun

When she knows that she is perfect

And her life has just begun

There will be happiness when she looks up and smiles

At that lovely mirror mirror on the wall

Who shows her someone beautiful

It shows her someone beautiful

You’ll always be beautful
